Mrs. Annie Louise Gatewood Tanner, daughter of the late Huey Gatewood and Ola Tillman Gatewood was born on May 4, 1935 in Anson County, North Carolina. Annie Tanner gained her wings silently and peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2019, surrounded by her family and friends at Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Indian Trail, North Carolina.
Annie graduated from Polkton High School in Poklton, North Carolina. She later became employed at Mutual Industries in Monroe, North Carolina; where she dedicated 20 plus years before she retired.
Annie was well known in the church community. She dedicated her life to Christ at a young age at Poplar Hill Baptist Church. She married Oscar James Tanner on January 24, 1954 in Chesterfield, South Carolina. She later joined Flintridge Baptist Church, where she devoted her time as a Sunday School Teacher, a Missionary,, wife of a Trustee, a Deaconess and many other accomplishments. She also was an active member of the Eastern Star Hope Chapter 445B in Marshville, North Carolina.
Annie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years; Oscar Tanner, her sister, Estellar Rose Parker, her mother and father.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: Two daughters: Gwendolyn Teresa Tanner (Rickey Everett) and Cynthia Denise Tanner Crowder (Walter Lee) both of Monroe, North Carolina. Three sisters: Juanita Crawford (Jimmy) of Charlotte, North Carolina. Ola Mae Taylor (late William) and Mildred Staton (late Billy) and one brother: Huey Edward Gatewood all of Marshville, North Carolina. Four grandchildren; Meosha T. Craig (Nathan), Delilah Crowder both of Monroe, North Carolina. Catral Tanner of Marshville, North Carolina and Tangela Crowder of High Point, North Carolina. Nine great-grandchildren, sister-in-law: Olemar Tanner Faulkner of Marshville, North Carolina , and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
