Cynthia Joyce Blakeney Huntley was born in Pageland, South Carolina (Chesterfield County) on March 21, 1964 to Reatha Arnetta Sturdivant Blakeney and the late Willie Houston Blakeney. She departed this life on June 13, 2019 at the Hospice House, Monroe, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Houston Blakeney, and sister, Denise Blakeney Lotharp.
At an early age, Joyce joined Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, Marshville, North Carolina. She was a kind, loving, caring, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend, and above all else, a devout woman of faith. She never met a stranger and loved talking about God and listening to gospel music. She graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1982. She worked in security until she became ill. She continued to attend church faithfully and spread the word about God and the Bible. She departed her life listening to gospel music.
She leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories a daughter: Marquita Rochelle Huntley; three granddaughters: Triniti Andai’ya Chambers, Kendal Joyce Huntley, Malani Danielle Melton; and two grandsons: Trevion Dai’Shun Chambers, Kaegan Daevion Chambers. In addition to her mother, Reatha Arnetta Sturdivant Blakeney, she leaves behind four sisters: Tracy Ann Taylor (Bernard) of Charlotte, North Carolina; Vanessa Annette Blakeney of Monroe, North Carolina; Eunice Carolyn Dyle of Charlotte, North Carolina; Beaulah Michelle McManus of Monroe, North Carolina; three brothers: Willie Hayward Blakeney (Patricia) of Monroe, North Carolina; Ivan Nathaniel Blakeney of Monroe, North Carolina; Donophan Carson Blakeney (Anna) of Monroe, North Carolina. She also leaves behind a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
