David Christopher Covington

David Christopher (Chris) Covington, son of David and Helen Dorsey Covington was born on April 4, 1982, departed this earth on August 12, 2019 in Hickory, North Carolina. He was a native of Union County and was raised in Marshville, North Carolina.

He was a devoted Boy Scout in his younger years. He was also a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Marshville, North Carolina.

He attended Forest Hills High School where he graduated in 2002 and joined the United States Marine Corp (USMC) in 2003 until 2006. He was honorably discharged in 2006.

He was married to the late Jessica Fowler Covington. He was employed as a truck driver after his military service. He had several hobbies which included: cars and motorcycles.

He is survived by his father and mother and paternal grandparents: Ernest and Rosie Lee Covington of Wingate, North Carolina; mother and father –in-law: Pam and Billy Fowler of Warrensville, North Carolina; two sisters: Dawn Covington and Nachet Dorsey of Monroe, North Carolina; his five children: Azia Taylor of Monroe, North Carolina, Raegan and Piper Covington of the home, Liam Covington of Florida and Dominic Covington of Indiana; aunts: Rose Ann Covington of Pageland. South Carolina, Majorie (David) Streater of Marshville, North Carolina, Ernest Covington (Lessie) of Wingate, North Carolina, Jerry (Martha) Covington of Wingate, North Carolina and Dora Crawford of Atlanta, Georgia, Robert Dorsey of Peachland, North Carolina, Charlie Dorsey of Wingate, North Carolina and Martha Reamas of Bishopville, South Carolina, and George Dorsey of Monroe, North Carolina.

He is also survived by a host of great aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, and nephews. He was a member of the Hickory Chapter of the “Street Knights”. He leaves to cherish is good friend, Dutch Etheridge and long time best friend, Lee Stallings of Union County.
