Alan Owen Obituary

Alan Owen passed away at his home after a brief illness on May 26, 2025.

Alan was born in Manchester England to the late Bernard and Nancy (Talbott) Owen. Alan was brought up as an avid Manchester City FC football (soccer) supporter while living in Manchester and attended many games with his family throughout his life. Alan spent his teenage years in Weston-super-Mare, a coastal town in England, and shared fond memories of time spent on the grand pier with his best friend Paul Slough attending dances and concerts performed by his favorite bands.

Alan attended college in Torquay where he met his late first wife Jane (Millard) Owen and gained the knowledge to be a publican licensee. Alan and Jane joined her parents in operating a family owned pub called the White Hart Inn, Bridestowe where they spent 36 wonderful years raising their family.

Alan moved from England to Monroe, NC where he resided with his wife of 23 years, DJ (Gale) Owen. Alan loved the North Carolina weather and spent many hours tending to his garden to make it a perfect oasis for anyone who stepped onto the property. Alan also became an avid support of the Charlotte Football Club and loved attending games as a season ticket holder.

In addition to his wife, Alan leaves behind his Daughter, Rachael (Owen) Motherwell and husband David Motherwell, son Simon Owen and wife Cathy (Barry) Owen, his step children Nicholas Currier, Elizabeth Trieber and wife Olivia Trieber, his brother Neil Owen, sister Rita (Owen) Walder and partner Dick Capron, brothers and sisters-in-law David and Vanessa (Millard) Lawler, Robert and Valerie Gale, Russell and Susan Gale, Reino and Debra Auvenin, Kathy Gale and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at a later date.
