Mr. Benjamin "BJ" Winfield, Jr. was such a loving brother, we could never have asked for a better childhood friend. Benjamin, Jr. (June as we called him) was born August 8, 1955 to Effie Nell Williams Winfield and Benjamin Winfield, Sr. He was the only boy. He has left us with a pain in our hearts forever on November 8, 2020.
He received Christ early in life, and according to his sister, Pastor Gloria that was with him when he transitioned, he was in the presence of the Lord
After graduation from Monroe High School, Benjamin , Jr. entered the United States Army in 1974 and advanced to the rank of Schofield Bks. Hi-Primary Non-Commissioned Officer as a Light Weapons Infantry-man. He returned home after four years to care for his aging parents.
A a young man, he played baseball, as he matured he became a father figure to all his nieces and nephews.
BJ, as many called him, leaves to cherish his memories: Four sisters: Shirley Sturdivant (William, deceased), Burnette Ivey, Gloria Barrino (James) all of Monroe, North Carolina. and Sylvia Perry (Gary, deceased) of Los Angeles, CA. What a great uncle he was to his nieces, nephews, including the grand nieces and nephews and his great-grand nieces and nephews ! Also. left to smile when they think of him in his cousins and friends, because he had such a pleasing personality. Rest in Peace our brother
