Mr. George Allen Bailey, son of the late Rev. Walter T. Bailey and Mary Selena Mills Bailey was born May 30, 1932 in Union County, North
Carolina and departed his earthly home on Friday, February 21, 2020 to enter his external heavenly home.
George was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: (twin) Rev. Henry Bailey (Bernell), David Bailey (Betty), James Walter Bailey (Thelma); two sisters: Thelma Moser and Margaret Funderburk (Leroy).
George began his work in the construction field in 1986 under the apprenticeship of Mr. Richard Hood, while mastering his craft he served as foreman until establishing a concrete finishing partnership for several years before branching out as the sole owner of Bailey’s Concrete Finishing. During his career, his craft and company employed several members of the local community and contributed to several of the Monroe and Charlotte metro area businesses and renovations projects until his retirement.
George was a committed member of Thompson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church where he served as The Trustee Board Chairman, Budget Committee member, Pastor’s Aide Board, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Member and also served in several other areas of the church for many years. He was a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, a man of wisdom and who gave advice to the young and old at heart.
George leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories: His wife of sixty-five years: Mrs. Jessie Faulkner Bailey of the home; his eight children: Jerome Bailey, Melvin Bailey, Shirley Holmes (Doylee), Clara Frazier, Geraldine Crudup, Symetha Blake (Vincent), Angela McClendon all of Mineral Springs, North Carolina and Linda Bailey-Ellis of Marietta, Georgia; Sister: Eva Lene Hood (John David) of Mineral Springs, North Carolina; eighteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
