In the early morning hours on Tuesday September 28th, 2021, Jane True died with her daughter Diane by her side. Jane went to the hospital on the previous Friday, after testing positive for breakthrough Covid-19. She was admitted to the hospital and then hospice care started Monday afternoon, Jane died of Covid induced pneumonia. Jane recently celebrated her 89th birthday, living in Monroe, North Carolina, near her daughter’s Beverly and Diane and their husbands.
Jane cared for people all her life. Professionally, her nursing career covered many areas including maternity, medical, surgical, ICU, private duty nursing. Jane concluded her nursing career as a night nurse for adolescent psychiatry.
Jane enjoyed singing choral music which brought her great joy. She participated in choral groups throughout her life. As an adult she enjoyed church choirs, and community choirs in Connecticut and North Carolina. As a charter member for 21 years, The Connecticut Choral Society enabled Jane to sing in Carnegie Hall twice, once under the direction of Skitch Henderson.
Jane’s great passion for travel brought her to many places around the world. Jane traveled abroad to China, Turkey, Israel, Hong Kong, Europe, Hawaii, and the British Isles. Some of these trips were with family and friends and some were music tours with various choral groups. In North America, Jane enjoyed elder hostel programs and visited many of the U.S. National Parks. Among her travel destinations, she enjoyed visiting friends and family. Jane’s little RV gave her many years of joyous memories. Jane also loved reading, needlepoint, jigsaw puzzles, knitting, and playing Scrabble and Bridge.
Preceded in death by her loving husband William H. True III, Jane is survived by her sister, Sally Miller, and brother, Stephen Millard along with her four daughters: Beverly Hunt, Diane Rockwell, Nancy True, and Laura Hamo. Jane is also survived by several nieces, nephews, beloved in-law siblings, and sons-in-law. Jane is also survived by her seven grandchildren.
