John Arthur Moore, Jr. was born to the late John Arthur Moore, Sr. and Cornelia Sanders Moore on December 1, 1949 in Seattle, Washington. He entered eternal rest on December 21, 2019 at his home.
John attended Wake County Public Schools in Raleigh, North Carolina, graduating from John W. Ligon High School in 1968. He went on to further his education at N.C. State University obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math Education in 1972, a Masters of Arts in Mathematics Education in 1982 and a certification in Administration in 1985 from UNC at Charlotte.
John accepted Christ at an early age, joining Smith Temple Freewill Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC. Several years after time he would marry the love of his life, Claudia Guess, to this union would come their one and only child, John Arthur Moore, III, born in Union County, NC. Later on, he and his wife would unite with Nicey Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Marshville, NC. He took on many roles at Nicey Grove and would give his very best in any of those roles.
He was employed by Union County Public Schools from 1971 to 1986 as a teacher and coach (football, basketball and track), at Forest Hill High School in Marshville, NC. He later served as assistant principal from 1986 to 1994 before becoming principal from 1994 to 2001 at Forest Hills High School. John loved working and he was taught by his father to do his best at all times. As the years past and retirement set in, he looked forward to the third Saturday of each month where he and two very special friends, Cletise Hammonds and Jackie Meadows would minister to the sick and shut-in at local nursing homes lifting them up in song and prayer. Yes, John loved his worked but he love the Lord most of all.
John was dearly loved and his memories will live on in the hearts of his wife, Claudia G. Moore and his son, John Arthur Moore III of Monroe, NC.
