Linda Henderson Obituary

Linda Barrett Henderson was born August 29, 1948 in Monroe, NC.  She is the beloved daughter of the late Clayton and Mary (Chambers) Barrett.  Linda transitioned to her heavenly home on July 16, 2020 with loved ones by her side.

Linda accepted Christ at an early age at Friendship Baptist Church, Monroe, NC, her family's home place of worship.  In 1995 she joined Marvin A.M.E. Zion recommitting her life to Christ.  She quickly felt embraced with the unconditional love from her Marvin Church Family!  During Linda's active years at Marvin she was always involved.  She reorganized the Greeters Committee, coordinated several Church retreats, served as a Stewart, Trustee, and active member of the Missionary Department.

Linda strongly believed in commitment, follow-thru and worked to ensure "excellence" in any project or obligation she led. She preferred working behind the scenes and did not desire praise or the spotlight.  She was a member of the last graduating class from Winchester Avenue High School in 1966 and attended Durham Business College in Durham, NC.  God showed favor throughout her career in diverse leadership roles in the U.S. Federal Government, IBM Cooperation, Spherion Cooperation as a operations manger at IBM and in 2013 she retired from Lowe's Improvement as a Human Resources Manager.

Linda shared happiness and a special love for her husband Art.  They loved to "dance", travel, and spend time with family (especially the Grands).  She especially enjoyed interior decorating, flower gardening, and coordinating family events!

Linda was preceded in death by her husband Art (Cowboy), brother Clayton Barrett, Jr., and three sisters: Vencie Dunham (Willie), Betty Mangrum, and baby sister Marietta Covington.

Many beautiful memories will be cherished by her sons: Andre' K. Weston (Mary), Arthur Henderson Jr. (Kim) both of Charlotte, NC, and Mark Henderson of Atlanta, GA.  One sister Dorothy Wynn (Willie) of Monroe, NC and one brother-in-law Nantambu Kambon of Goodlow, TX.  Never-ending love to nine grandchildren and dearly loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

Linda's legacy of caring, commitment, and compassion will continue to live through family and friendships!
