Mrs. Magdalene Garris Jackson Blount, daughter of the Fairley and Geneva Richardson Garris was born November 19, 1941 in Union County ,North Carolina. And departed this life on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Atrium HealthCare-Union, Monroe, North Carolina.
Magdalene accepted Christ at an early age and joined Red Level Baptist Church. Magdalene was better known by her nickname "Button"
Magdalene was a great wife, mother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin and great friend.
Magdalene was loved by everyone, spreading nothing but love, comfort and joy to everyone she came in contact with. Magdalene was well known for her good cooking (biscuits and ice tea) the best in town.
Magdalene was preceded in death by her two brothers: James Fairley Garris, Jr. and Lewis Garris.
Magdalene leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories: Her husband: Robert Lee Blount of the home. Sons: George Jackson, Alphonso Jackson (Rachel), Robert Jackson (Crystal). Daughters: Darlene Meadows (Charles), Shirlene Rushing (Gary), Brenda Thompson (Ray), Cynthia Jackson, Matilda Biko (Simba), Dameka Jackson (Joe), two grandchildren she raised as own: Devonda Shannon and Antwoine Shannon, adopted daughter: Taniya McClain all of Monroe, North Carolina. Step-children: Tony Melton of Waxhaw, North Carolina and Nell Blount of Concord, North Carolina. Brothers: Paul Garris of Charlotte, North Carolina and Eugene Garris (Amelia) of Pageland, South Carolina. Sisters: Betty Bennett, Garnese Gaither, Annie Hough (David) of Monroe, North Carolina and Mary Deese of Wilmington, North Carolina. Forty-two grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren, a very dear friend: Ms. Daisy Robinson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
