Maurice Lowery Obituary

Born in Anson County, NC on February 28, 1938. He went home
to be with the Lord on July 18, 2025. He was preceded in death
by his father Randolph Lowery, his mother Dorothy Sturdivant
Lowery, sister Janette Lowery, three brothers David, George and
William Lowery.
Maurice moved to Charlotte at a young age. He worked at Butler
Seafood. He retired from the City of Charlotte Water Distribution
Center in 1998.
Maurice married the love of his life Elizabeth Ann Coffey on
September 8, 1962.
He was a faithful member of Greater Mount Moriah Primitive
Baptist Church for over 57 years. As a member he attended Sunday
School, sang with the True Vines and Men ‘s Choir, he was a
member of the Brotherhood Ministry and a Trustee Emeritus.
Maurice loved working in his garden, his greatest joy was to grow
food he could give away. If he didn’t grow it or didn’t have enough
he would take orders drive to SC to pick up collard greens,
watermelons, and sweet potatoes.
His memories will be cherished by his wife Elizabeth Lowery; four
daughters Bertha Price, Sharon Lowery, Mary Lowery all from
Charlotte, NC, Barbara Kalu (Ikechukwu) from Douglasville Ga;
one son Maurice Lowery Jr. “Bo” of Charlotte NC; sister Lillie
Swartz (Tommy) from Rock Hill SC; ten grandchildren Phillip
Ingram (Sherrie), Philisha Orr (Rod), LaMonica Moore (Tony),
Isavier Guyton, Sheree McCullough, Tony McCullough, Raymond
McCain, Shamon Lowery (Ashlyn), Miche Lowery, Malik Lowery;
ten great grandchildren Keenan Ingram, Kayla Ingram, Elijah
Long, Emory Orr, Emerson Orr,
Maisy Lowery, Jasmine Anderson, Erika McCullough, Kayden
McCullough, La’Niyah Lowery, four sister in laws Alfunzie McGriff,
Janette McGriff, Everlean Polk, and Vivian Brown. Special thanks
to
his longtime friend and talking partner Mr. Robert James.
