Michael Eugene Rivers was born on July 5, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Margaret Ann
Rivers. He peacefully transitioned from this life on January 15, 2026, at Autumn Care of Marshville in
Marshville, North Carolina.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Margaret Ann Rivers Pharr; his stepfather, Broadus
Pharr; his grandparents, Lillian C. Rivers and William L. Rivers II; his cherished grandson, Jayden Duncan;
and his stepsister, Billie Ruth Pharr.
Affectionately known by many names—Iron Mike, Mama’s Boy, Ladies Man, and the Favorite Uncle, Michael
was truly one of a kind. His presence brought warmth, laughter, and strength to those who knew and loved
him.
Michael attended Union County Public Schools and later mastered the trade of bricklaying, becoming a highly
skilled Master Mason with W. J. McNeely. His hands were gifted, and his work spoke for itself he could build
just about anything.
