Mrs. Susan Chavis Rushing was born on July 17,1961 to the late Martha Locklear and Velton Chavis in Bennettsville, SC. She departed this life and entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 19,2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, older brother, Ronnie Chavis and younger brother Dickey Chavis. Also, three brother-in laws, Gerald Grandy, Maurice Rushing and Mickey Robinson.

She was employed by John E. Hinkel for over 20 years where she was a supervisor and a Seamstress. She retired after she suffered a brain aneurysm in 2011. During her life she was the definition of kind and loving. She was a wonderful Mother not only to her children but to others as well. She loved to cook, and no one ever went hungry around her. She was a very gifted seamstress and could sew about anything.

She has decorated and made something for almost everyone’s house at one point. If you could draw it; she could make it. Most importantly she doted and loved her only Grandson Jayden like no other. He was so special to her that they even shared the same birthday. She was a devoted wife to husband Scotty Rushing of 25 years.

Susan leaves to cherish her memories her beloved children, daughter Debbie McKenzie and son Mitchell Mckenzie (Amanda) and her grandson Jayden McKenzie. Her older sister Connie Grandy and older brother Monnie (JJ) Chavis. Susan also leaves to cherish her memories are Jimmy Rushing, Avis Huntley (Gary), Sarah Robinson, Carol Sue Ismael. A beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews and extended family and a wonderful friend to many.

She will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
