Mr. Van Alexander Shannon, son of the late Willie and Mona Yarbrough Shannon, was born April 30, 1952 in Union County, North Carolina. And departed this life on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at his home.
He attended elementary school at Western Union and high school at Sun Valley. He worked as a custodian at a Beauty Salon in Charlotte, NC until he became disabled.
He attended Thompson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church with his mother at an early age. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Vangela Polk.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His son: Jerry Polk of Polkton, North Carolina. Brothers: Henry Shannon, Thomas Shannon of Charlotte, North Carolina and Hubert Shannon of Marshville, North Carolina. Sisters: Mrs. Mary Farara, Ms. Minnie Lee Maske of Charlotte, North Carolina. Ms. Malinda Caudle of Rock Hill, South Carolina. Ms. LouElla Ivey of Monroe, North Carolina and Ms. Josephine Brown of Denver, North Carolina. Grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
