Ms. Willette Funderburk was born November 25, 1950 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Mecklenburg County. Willette was the daughter of the late Mr. Elbert Roberts and Della Funderburk. She departed this life suddenly on Friday, April 18, 2025.
At an early age, Willette accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Red Level Baptist Church. She attended Western Union High School in Waxhaw, North Carolina. Willette was always quiet but friendly with her peers.
Willette was joined into holy matrimony with the late Wilbert Hough, Sr. to this union three children were born: Regina, Carolyn and Wilbert Hough, Jr. She was very independent going into the work force early in life to help provide for her family. She held various jobs working twenty years for Tyson’s Food, Monroe, North Carolina and Carrington Place in Matthews, North Carolina retiring in 2015. She acquired many friends during her tenure at both locations. She was dedicated and hardworking. She made the necessary sacrifices to make provisions for her family. Even when she didn’t feel like going, she continued to press her way.
Willette loved her immediate and extended family very much. If there was anything she could do to assist you, she was always more than willing. She was such a selfless, compassionate, kind-hearted person. If she was questioned about how she felt about a situation, she would say, “Whatever y’all decided is alright with me.” She loved her family and they loved her too!
Willette was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. Elbert Roberts and Della Funderburk; sister: Ms. Evelyn F. Stevenson; brother: Mr. Mitchell D. Funderburk.
Willette was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin and friend.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Regina Funderburk (James) and Carolyn Huntley (Louis); one son: Wilbert Hough, Jr. (Missy); special grandson: Antonio Hough (Sasha); grandsons: Corey, Jamarius and Donte; granddaughters: April Covington (Torey) and Jessica Hough (Richard); fourteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters: Katrina Williams and Dorothy Daniels; one brother: Jethro Stokes; special friends: Benjamin Stacks and Freida Yongue along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
